Espanyol up and running after win at Deportivo
MADRID, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Espanyol beat Deportivo Coruna 3-2 away to pick up their first points of the season and drag themselves off the foot of La Liga on Saturday.
Jose Callejon opened the scoring for the visitors from a corner in the 20th minute, only for Adrian Lopez to level as he rounded the goalkeeper soon after.
Young Argentine defender Juan Forlin headed Espanyol back in front before the break and Joan Verdu extended the lead after a well-worked move early in the second half. French striker Lassad grabbed a scrappy second for Depor near the end.
Real Mallorca built on their good start to the season with a comfortable 4-0 victory at home to promoted Tenerife, who finished the match with nine men.
Mario Suarez set Mallorca on the way in the first half, and Aritz Aduriz, Julio Alvarez and Pierre Webo netted in the second, the last from the penalty spot.
Later on Saturday, Sevilla visit Osasuna and champions Barcelona host struggling Atletico Madrid. Real Madrid are at home to Xerez on Sunday.
