Fiorentina’s Jovetic: I’m No Lionel Messi Or Roberto Baggio
Montenegrin ace Stevan Jovetic is having his breakthrough season at Fiorentina but is trying to downplay comparisons to Roberto Baggio and Lionel Messi.
“Of course, I like to hear that, but I don’t know,” the striker told UEFA.com.
“I’m Stevan Jovetic and still need to improve. I still need to do a lot to be as good as them.”
Fiorentina signed ‘Jo-Jo’ from Partizan in the summer of 2008, despite reported interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
“I always used to watch Italian football,” he mused. “When I was little I dreamt of playing in a league like the Italian one.
“That's why I decided to come here. I knew Fiorentina were a big club, one of the biggest in Italy.”
Jovetic netted a brace against English giants Liverpool in a Champions League tie last September.
“That was the greatest night of my life,” he enthused. “Firstly because it was the Champions League and secondly because the opponents were Liverpool.
“Thirdly because we won and then also because I scored two goals.”
