1972: Luis Figo: Portuguese attacking midfielder Luis Figo came to Spanish football in 1995, joining Barcelona where he played 249 times in five seasons, winning two Primera Liga titles, two Copa del Rey crowns and a UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. In 2000 he made a controversial switch to Real Madrid, which infamously resulted in a pig's head being thrown at him by the Camp Nou faithful on a return visit to Catalunya. With Los Blancos Figo won two more league crowns and a UEFA Champions League title before joining Inter where he added a further four league titles to his impressive haul of 24 club medals. His injury free career allowed him to play a minimum of 35 games each season for 16 straight years since making his breakthrough at Sporting CP and even in his final two seasons as a player he managed to keep his appearances for Inter in double figures. Figo collected both the Ballon d'Or (2000) and FIFA World Player of the Year (2001) honours and scored 164 goals in 916 games in a distinguished career, including 32 goals in 127 caps for Portugal.
