Spain Launch Second Home Kit Of The Year For 2010 World Cup
Spain have risked the wrath of their supporters after releasing their second home shirt in just over six months ahead of next summer's World Cup Finals.
La Seleccion changed the design of their kit in March and this week unveiled yet another red jersey made by sportswear giant Adidas (pictured left).
Spain's superstars donned a new-look design for the 2008 European Championships that saw the crest on the shirt change from the previous badge and the familiar yellow trim become gold. But having qualified for the Confederations Cup in the summer, Adidas produced a shirt for the occasion adding a blue bar down the right side of the body.
Under the tag 'Official Spain shirt 2009-2010' supporters were charged up to €65 for the new top believing that it would last for more than a few months.
While fans do not have to buy new jerseys, sportswear manufacturers know that by producing a different design they are playing on the feelings of loyalty felt by football followers.
Spain's latest effort, which they will wear for the first time against Argentina on Saturday, is a throw-back to the 2002 World Cup shirt with yellow trim and a more scarlet colour.
