South African FA Speak To Benni McCarthy About Return To Squad - Reports
According to KickOff.com, the South African FA has been in contact with the Blackburn Rovers striker, who was dropped by Brazilian coach Joel Santana, with regards to a comeback to the squad.
With Carlos Alberto Parreira back at the helm of the national team, McCarthy is expected to lead the South Africa attack in the second international friendly, against Jamaica on November 17, as well.
Bafana manager Sipho Nkumane refused to commit himself on the return of McCarthy when speaking to the website.
“It is normal procedure that overseas players are contacted in order to check on their injuries and to get medical reports from their teams; so there was no exception in Benni’s case,” he said.
Nkumane also disclosed that Parreira will be jetting in from Brazil on Thursday and will be landing at OR Tambo airport in the morning.
