Roma Must Play A Perfect Match To Beat Inter - Claudio Ranieri

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri is aware of the difficulties that his side will face when they kick off against Inter in the Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday evening, but he is hopeful that they can spring a surprise against the runaway leaders.

"We will try and play the perfect game, something that we haven't done this year, and they need to make a few mistakes," Ranieri reasoned to Il Corriere dello Sport, before giving a few insights into his possible tactics.

"It's a difficult match, everything has to be taken into consideration - maybe even a [midfield] diamond, that could be an idea."

Ranieri believes that he has solved a number of I Lupi's problems since taking over from Luciano Spalletti, but is also concerned about the Beneamata's flying start to the season.

"[When I arrived] they were a nervous squad, insecure - I saw that they weren't battling, that they surrendered after conceding the first goal.

"Now I see a team that is fighting for every ball, who aren't prepared to lose, who react, who believe until the final second, so we have made considerable progress.

"[Inter] are a squad with the wind in their sails, while we have a thousand problems that we are trying to solve. They have the best attack and we have the worst defence - but we will go there and fight until the end."

Roma's task will be made even harder by the continuing absence of Francesco Totti, Juan and Nicolas Burdisso, while first-choice 'keeper Doni is also back on the treatment table.
