Real Madrid Striker Raul: We Still Need Time To Adapt To Each Other
Raul Gonzalez believes that Real Madrid need even more time to gel and thinks that coach Manuel Pellegrini is not to blame for the team's poor performance in the Copa del Rey.
Los Merengues' captain was clearly shaken by his club's elimination from the cup by lowly Alcorcon, but thinks that things will turn around for the team.
A huge spending spree in the summer raised expectations that Real Madrid would be able to challenge Barcelona for both success and style and Raul thinks that was too hasty.
"It's hard for things to work out at the start of a new project. We are a team in constant evolution with many new players who need time to adapt," he told a news conference on Wednesday.
"It may be taking too long, but we have faith in the coach and we won't give up. We must continue to work hard because we know we can do better.
"Real Madrid has managed to pull through several complicated situations in its history. When things don't go well there isn't just one person in particular who's to blame; it's all of us.
"We still have faith in the coach and in his work. He is capable of getting us out of this with his ideas. The crowd was disappointed and we are all to blame for that," he concluded.
