Real Madrid Misfit Guti Fuming Over Quotes Being Taken Out Of Context
Real Madrid midfielder Guti has recently been quoted by La Gaceta as saying that "foreign players do not understand the values of Real Madrid" and that he enjoys partying into the early hours of the morning.
The full interview is due to be broadcast on Sunday evening by Intereconomia TV, and Guti is furious that some of his quotes have been manipulated to portray him in a bad light.
Regarding his personal life, the veteran explained to El Pais that "some quotes have been taken out of context" and that anyone's personal life "has many facets" such as "being with your children, being with your family, enjoying a film, relaxing with your friends or going out for a drink."
"We are professionals that know when we can go out and when we can't, but we are of an age where your personal life is also important," he continued.
Guti also looked to clear up his comments surrounding foreigners at Real Madrid, arguing that he simply wished to say that it is a unique club.
"What I wanted to say was that when foreign players come to Real Madrid, although they are coming from great clubs, Real Madrid are above everyone, for good or bad, and you have to understand the shirt you are wearing.
"Those come from the cantera, who have spent a long time at Real Madrid, have to make them understand this feeling but at no time did I say that they didn't care for the shirt."
He also commented that "the relationship with Manuel Pellegrini is still very good" and that "there is no bitterness" after the Chilean coach left him out of the last four games.
