My Time At Real Zaragoza Was Very Important - Valencia Striker David Villa
As his side prepares to face his former club Valencia striker David Villa has revealed that the time he spent at Real Zaragoza was a very important period in his career.
El Guaje scored 31 goals in 78 appearances for Zaragoza before making his €12 million move to the Mestalla in 2005 and he has fond memories of his time at La Romareda.
"Time passes quickly, but the memories remain, and I spent two wonderful years at Zaragoza, two years which were vital in my career. I look back and I am very happy at the memory. In Zaragoza I won my first two titles, I matured a lot as a footballer and I was very happy," he told AS.
Since Villa's departure Los Blanquillos have suffered relegation before bouncing back to the Primera Liga for this season and Villa believes they will once again return to being a major force in Spanish football.
"I'm sure the team will return soon to have a top team. It has had to go through a very difficult time, but Zaragoza will always be Zaragoza," he commented.
