Mark Hughes sees managerial potential in Manchester City defender Sylvinho
By Alan Dawson
Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has opined that summer signing Sylvinho has the potential to continue his career in coaching and club management, once the Brazilian elects to hang up his playing boots.
Sylvinho, 35, was brought in from Catalan club Barcelona in order to deputise for first-choice left-back Wayne Bridge. Thus far the defender has made minimal appearances, but Hughes has been impressed with his attitude toward training.
He told the club's official website: "He is a great guy.
"We do our homework on players and obviously his ability is not in question but we also knew that he is not only a good footballer but a fantastic individual.
"We knew that he would help the dynamic in the dressing room. His manner is fantastic."
He continued: "I can see him as a coach when he stops playing.
"He spends quite a bit of time speaking to guys during training
sessions, passing on his experience.
"He has the personality that lends itself to a coaching role."
