John Terry Insists England Can Count On Rio Ferdinand
England captain John Terry has backed fellow defender Rio Ferdinand to overcome his current injury problems and return to his best form.
The Manchester United centre back will miss today’s trip to face Terry’s Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with his club admitting they are struggling to cure his current calf problem.
Indeed, it remains unclear as to when Ferdinand will return for the champions but Terry clearly believes he will get back to his best and that it is far too early to write the defender off.
“Rio is a world-class player. We all have our blips but I'm sure he'll come out fighting fit and stronger,” he told the News of the World.
"I went through a few injuries myself and I think he's gone through a similar spell himself."
The Chelsea skipper also insisted that the Three Lions could depend on Ferdinand and revealed that he “loved” playing alongside the Red Devil.
"Nobody can ever doubt Rio after what he has done at England level and for Man United, West Ham and Leeds," Terry added.
"From an England point of view, when we need Rio, he will be there.
"I love playing alongside him and you can count on Rio."
