Giuseppe Mascara Was Close To Joining Napoli - Catania's Pietro Lo Monaco

Catania president Pietro Lo Monaco has revealed in an interview that forward Giuseppe Mascara could have almost joined Napoli over the summer.

Speaking to Marte Sport Live, as reported by TuttoNapoli.net, Lo Monaco stated that Partenopei president Aurelio De Laurentiis personally asked for the 30-year-old striker, but then nothing eventuated.

"Over the past summer, Mascara was close to wearing the Napoli guernsey," the Elefanti director said.

"Aurelio De Laurentiis had asked me in person, but then nothing more was said."

The Azzurri were able to bring in Fabio Quagliarella from Udinese, to help out in the scoring department.

Napoli and Catania played out a scoreless draw on the weekend, before the international break.
