Dietmar Beiersdorfer Named As New Red Bull Salzburg Sporting Director
Reigning Austrian Bundesliga champions Red Bull Salzburg have named former German national team player Dietmar Beiersdorfer as their new sporting director.
The 45-year-old was officially presented at a press conference held at Salzburg’s Hangar-7 airport terminal on Monday.
Beiersdorfer has successfully worked at German outfit Hamburger SV in the same role for the past seven years. However, he opted to leave the Rothosen this summer after a conflict with club president Bernd Hoffmann.
Beiersdorfer will not only deal with management and marketing at the Salzburg club but at all of Red Bull’s football clubs and departments, including American Major Soccer League side New York Red Bulls, German fifth-league side RB Leipzig and the Red Bull youth academies in Brazil and Ghana.
Beiersdorfer is succeeding Markus Egger, who will be given a different post in management, club officials announced. However, it remains unclear whether executive director Heinz Hochhauser will stay at the club.
