Spain pipped a hard-fighting Colombia 1-0 on Sunday to win the third/fourth playoff match at this year's FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Nigeria.

Isco was the match winner with his 75th minute strike after Spain had struggled to translate their dominance into goals at the Abuja National Stadium.

With Spain mostly on the attack, both sides did not not create a clear-cut chance till the 27th minute when Real Madrid midfielder Pablo Sarabia delivered a pass from the left flank but top striker Borja could not get a foot to the ball.

And moments later, Sarabia tried a dipping shot from outside the box, which forced Colombia goalkeeper Juan Chaverra to scramble it away for a corner.

Borja's half volley then missed target narrowly in the 31st minute, but almost immediately Spain skipper Marc Muniesa failed to put away a rebound from the Colombian goalkeeper from five yards out.

Spain, who have been beaten finalists thrice, enjoyed more of the play in the first half but could still not find their way past an uncompromising Colombian defence.

Seven minutes after the interval Kevin put through another cross from the right, but again Borja failed to connect from inside the six-yard box as Colombia continued to hang on for dear life.

Borja's free header from inside the box after another fine cross from Kevin missed its mark after 62 minutes.

It was looking like a frustrating day in front of goal for the Europeans before Isco pounced on the winner with a quarter of an hour left on the clock.
