Atletico Madrid Striker Diego Forlan Insists His Side Deserved To Beat Celta Vigo
Atletico Madrid goal hero Diego Forlan said his side deserved to win by more after securing a 2-1 aggregate victory over Celta Vigo with a 1-0 second leg win in the quarter final of the Copa del Rey.
Forlan got the only goal of the game midway through the first half and had opportunities to add to the lead but in the end the single goal proved enough.
"The goal was important in truth. We played a serious game and were on top from the beginning," he said afterwards as quoted by AS.
"The attitude was good in a game we knew would be difficult. It also helped to have a very nice atmosphere. We are very pleased to have qualified for the semis."
The Uruguayan also refuted suggestions of a rift between himself and coach Quique Flores, stating they are all on the same side.
"There are no problems. Here we are all working as a team as we showed today. We had stood tall and deserved a little more."
