Andriy Voronin Omitted From Ukraine Squad For World Cup Play-Off Against Greece

Ukraine coach Olexiy Mikhailichenko has announced his 24-men squad for the upcoming World Cup play-off's against Greece on 14 and 18 November.

Liverpool striker Andriy Voronin has somewhat surprisingly been left out of the selection for the crucial qualifiers.

Instead Mikhailichenko has turned to strikers Andriy Shevchenko and Artem Milevskiy from Ukrainian champions Dynamo Kiev, as well as Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk pair Volodymyr Homenyuk and Evgen Seleznev.

The Ukraine coach explained Voronin's omission by saying the Liverpool forward was less than 100 per cent fit, without giving precise details, while the striker declined to comment on the matter.

The 30-year-old's last appearance for his country was as a late substitute in Ukraine's 0-0 draw against Belarus in September and he was then dropped from the squad for the final qualifier in Andorra in October.
