Algeria’s Karim Ziani: We Need To Forget About Our Win In Blida
Algerian international midfielder, Karim Ziani, has told L’essentiel that in order to qualify for next summer’s World Cup, his side must not concentrate on the fact that they have already proven that they can defeat Egypt.
“I think the context is going to be different. We’ll need to forget [the win] in order to approach this encounter better. You can tell yourself a lot of things before a game, but the truth always strikes on the field. All that matters is what happens on the pitch,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Wolfsburg player assured his supporters that he was on track to a full recovery from a hamstring injury that has sidelined him for over a week.
Ziani also took the opportunity to commend his country’s football federation for settling on the famous Italian Coverciano facility as the venue.
“We couldn’t have done it elsewhere. In Algeria, in Egypt, or even in France we would have only occupied ourselves with extracurricular [matters]. The staff made a very intelligent decision by picking Italy for the training camp. The facilities are perfect and we’re going to work in the best conditions possible,” he explained.
