Getafe full-back Sergio Escudero has insisted his team are refusing to give up their fight for a European spot despite losing to Osasuna at the weekend and falling five points behind Real Betis in the race for seventh place in the Primera Division. He told reporters: “We want to win all nine points that are still in play. I don’t know how many points we’ll need to get into Europe, but we want them all. We want to finish as high as possible and we’re not going to surrender seventh spot.” Luis Garcia’s side host Champions League hopefuls Valencia on Saturday, a game Escudero called “a final”. “The fans are very excited because it’s a vital game against a team in good form. If we win we’ll take another step towards Europe, but every game is different and none of them are easy. Each game left is a final and we need to aim to get points in all three.”
