Maradona to attend FIFA disciplinary hearing

  • Print

ZURICH (AP)—Argentina coach Diego Maradona will attend a disciplinary hearing on Sunday at FIFA headquarters into his expletive-filled outburst following his team’s qualification for the World Cup.

FIFA may punish Maradona for an attack on critics during a press conference that followed a 1-0 win in Uruguay on Oct. 14.

Maradona has said he has nothing to apologize for, but FIFA says he has asked for a personal hearing from disciplinary committee chair Marcel Mathier.

Tim, as incomprehensible to so many, Maradona is a “Hero” in many countries and a good man. I believe that Maradona act the way he does because his lack of education. Remember that he was fifteen years old when he became one of the greatest players in the World. I guess he never finish school, which could relate to his actions and personality. Despite the hate and envy of many, either because of his nationality, his personal drug predicament in the past or his present disposition with the Argentine press, he is a Good Man. Diego Maradona, means a lot for millions of people in the World. He was, he is and will be an inspiration for millions of kids around the World, always. That is taking longer for Maradona “to get the better of” this Unbelievable Team, yes, but at the same time, is taking longer for the players to coordinate what he wants on the field.
I can give you some reasons of why is taking longer than usual, 80% of the Argentine players play in Europe. They fly, get to the airport, from there, “maybe”, the get to rest a little, practice a little and from there to the game. There is not enough time to practice together, there is not enough time to learn the coach plans for the game, and there is not enough time for the players to know each others behaviors or moves on the field. This is a true fact. People will say that every team has the same problem, not true, especially in South America. If you look at Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay the coach has been the same for at least two years, the base team is already set up and the couching plans have been learned in the past. Now that the Argentina’s National Team has qualified, ugly or not, they will have the necessary time to become a very, very strong team. With these players and the team of excellent couches that Maradona has around, example Carlos Bilardo, World Cup Champion in 1986, Runner up in 1990, there is not limit on what this team can accomplish. I’ll really be surprise is they don’t make it to the finals.
Give Maradona some time, he deserved
The World Cup 2010 finals will be: Spain vs. Argentina.
    Is only my personal wish.

Hey, arieR, relax , I’m here to help you with your jealousy, envy and discriminating attitude. Maradona was the “BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD IN THE 80’S”. He got involved with drugs? Yes, he did, like many other players in the World, but without his fame. He Fuc@# up? Yes, but that was many years ago. But thanks to people without “SINS” like you and the “hate” you have for him, that will never rest. Not in your mine, anyway. That he’s fat? Who cares? He’s trying to coach, not go back to play, unless you like him better “skinny” in your “homo” dreams. Let me ask you something, you incredible “loser”, how many goals has been scored on “off side”, with the “hand”, or thanks to the referee “bad” decision in past World Cups? How many players “CHEATED” faking fouls in the penalty area or faking regular fouls as dramatic as they possibly could? arieR, please “Shut your mouth, you incompetent loser”, the only one that “SUCKS” here is you and your little education and manners! People will rather have him as a friend than you and your “feminine” and inconsistent presumptions.
    ArieR swallow this:

    FIFA World Cup victories
    Winner (1978, 1986)
    Runners-Up (1930, 1990)

    Runners-Up
    Copa America (1916, 1917, 1920, 1923, 1924, 1926, 1935, 1942, 1959 (unofficial), 1967, 2004, 2007)

argie62, his past glory does not make up for his current actions. He has done nothing as a coach, other than finish 4th place in qualifying and brag about it like it's a major victory. When Hugo Sanchez wasn't living up to expectations as a coach, he never said " I am one of Real Madrids leading goal scorers of all time, how dare you talk down to me!". You know what happened? He got replaced! Diego was an amazing player, but he isn't helping Argentina anymore. He is hurting them with his vulgar language, and poor results.

For Noby, rb, HBN, miguelepadilla94, ArieR, tgeacep and all the "other" ignorants and envious losers. Maradona was the best player in the world in the 80’s, his crown came from the opinion of Coaches and Players in the world of football, not from losers teams like mexico, and the always arrogant, England. They’re still very, very sore about the “Hand of God” goal, but most importantly, the best goal in the history of World Cups, the second goal that Maradona scored against England in the ’86 World Cup, which still a disgrace for the “inventors” of Football. For as long as Brazilians said that he was the best player in the World at that time, it’s all I care. Maybe you need to go to Fifa.com and see Maradona’s videos in past world cups before he started using drugs. It is incredible how that goal made a lot of people mad, especially the loser teams, but, how many goals have been scored with the hands in all the World Cups? Many, I’m sure. Incredible was the penalty kick that they give to Italy against Australia in the past World Cup, sending Italy to the Final with France. Incredible was the penalty kick that they give to Germany “IN A WORLD CUP FINAL”, with 6 minutes remaining, against Argentina in 1990.

Damn Arie R! You hate the $h!t out of him. By the way Dian, Maradona should keep doing what he does best..... Heroin! As for ed, I think you might be exagerating. The only international cups that argentina is elligble for is the World Cup, COPA America, The Olympics, and the CONFED Cup. Add up all of their championships and you get 19. Impressive, but not 61. Unless you are counting the womens team and youth teams, in that case I don't know how many they have won. But Diego has not coached them to a cup victory. So the credit you are giving him is misplaced.

    Copa America 1995
A little Brazilian hand of god?
Held in Uruguay they met at the quarter-finals stage on July 17, 1995 . Brazilian Tulio Costa became famous for scoring a late equalizer five minutes from time after controlling the ball with his left arm. Despite the obvious foul, the referee (Alberto Tejada Noriega from Peru) claimed he did not see the incident and the goal stood. The game finished with a 2-2 draw and Brazil went on to win on penalties. The Argentine media labeled the incident as the "hand of the devil".[

Maradona says some crazy @#$% once in a while, true. Brutal honesty?
Did he qualify fot the world cup? yes (sorry haters)
I think this team will find itself and have a wonderful world cup.
As for Fifa, aka MaFia, as much as they have a hard-on aginst Diego, they can't do @#$% but watch this turn into a success story...

It's been 23 1/2 years since Argentina won in 86 (finals in 90 beat Brazil with Diego), Brazil went 24 years without winning the world cup, we'll see...

Argentina has won most international titles by any national team - 19

I would love to have a fair debate with anyone who is willing to defend Maradona. Are you kidding me, come on. Look at this guy and who he is and what he's become. One of the most admired footballers in the history of the game and you go and get yourself involved with drugs.? You get obesed.? You F***ing cheat at the WC and call it by the grace of god.? Through out the whole qualifications you are as quiet as a 4yr old who's just been scolded by his mother for misbehaviour, on the verge of missing out on the WC with no less then the Argentinean NATIONAL FOOTBALL team at your disposal.? (At bethelkafe2009 post #2.....how the hell is he doing a good job.? Please elaborate.? ) and then, just when you qualify by a thread, you go on and curse without the least bit of education or manners to people pointing out the truth.? YOU SUCK.! Be humble about it..!! Oh and don't even let me get started with you Steve C Post # 11. Oh yeah and what was that about taking a vacation trip to the mountains in Italy to shake off the stress.???? More like going to smoke some crack...if you can't take the pressure then GET OUT.! Oh and please tell me by the way ED Post #8 ....what are these 61 trophies you speak of.?

maradona is a not just a disgrace to the sport but a shame too. all these argentinos call him the best player ever.... guess wat he wasnt even good all he was was a @#$%en jelly bean running around perttending to be good..... I agree with FIFA telling him he needs to say sorry to the press because by the looks of how argentina's national team was playing on the qualifiers and how he acted after that last game which by the way they just barely won but as always palermo just making those easy goals like in Boca saved argentina's ass from going to the repechage.... My point is that the same thing that happened to mexico with hugo sanchez is the same as what's going on now with argentina...oh and that @#$% maradona messi and kun ...wait not just them ALL @#$%EN ARGENTINES HAHAHA

for all english readers...yeah, he was a great player, and yeah, he did screw up in his life...but havent we all? cant any of us get redemption and forgiveness? he wants to try to coach a team - let him...he knows soccer, maybe he can help a team who has disgracefully bowed out early in the last 20 years of competition...i think the problem with the team is coaching in the sense that he needs to watch more tape of the club teams his players play for, and then design the national team around that - if argentina were set up like barcelona, messi would go nuts! and lets not forget, coaching a team of "primadonas" has got to be pretty tough for anybody, even for an ex-prima(ra)dona :)

Maradona is a disgrace to soccer. Let the critics do what they do best, hate! As the Manager of the Argentine National team, he should know better then to lose it the way he did. Just keep your mouth shut. How can Argentines let this loser represent them like that? ....Low class garbage. And for all you readers that come to his rescue, get over it.... I am talking about Maradona as a person not a soccer player. We all know he was great on the field, but off it...makes me wanna vomit.

With that said...Chi Chi Chi Le Le Le Viva Chile!!
