Beckham's Galaxy advance to next round
LOS ANGELES (AFP) - David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy defeated Chivas USA 1-0 on Sunday to win their Major League Soccer Western Conference semi-final series, 3-2 on aggregate.
American Landon Donovan scored on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute for the only goal of the game.
Beckham helped make the play possible with a pass to Donovan. Donovan then crossed the ball to attacker Mike Magee who was hauled down, earning a penalty kick from ref Ricardo Salazar.
Donovan took the kick and beat Chivas netminder Zach Thornton.
The Galaxy will host the Houston Dynamo, who beat Seattle Sounders FC earlier Sunday, in the Western Conference final next week.
