All Cristiano Ronaldo got out of the scoreless first leg of Portugal's playoff against Bosnia-Herzegovina was a "Messi" chant, a few laser beams in his eyes and a fistful of grass. But as we predicted (and as his middle finger suggested), upon returning to Portugal for the second leg, he would have his revenge.
A mere eight minutes into the second leg, Ronaldo put his side in control with a 1-0 lead with one of his typically perfect free kicks. Nani made it 2-0 with a cannon shot of his own and Ronaldo added another in the second half before Bosnia went down to 10 men and ended up losing 6-2. And just like that, Portugal eased into Euro 2012 after taking a nervy path.
Like Lionel Messi, Ronaldo has been accused of not coming up big when it matters most, but you really can't say that about him today.
