Following Shakhtar Donetsk's 3-1 win over Tavriya on Saturday, the manager of the Ukrainian Premier League champions presented lineswoman Natalia Rachinskaya with a bouquet of flowers and a kiss on each cheek in an effort to make amends for his comment on female officials a few months ago.
"I would still not have women judge matches because they are too sentimental, and so they may begin to help someone," said Mircea Lucescu. That didn't go over well in the press and he was subsequently called a sexist. So as his way of apologizing, he did this.
It looked like an awkward moment, but Rachinskaya seemed to appreciate the gesture, while the male official was probably heartbroken that he only got a handshake as an afterthought.
