Real Madrid beat Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 on Wednesday despite being reduced to 10 men in the 73rd minute -- when Marcelo was booked twice in three minutes -- and Cristiano Ronaldo requiring three stitches after taking a boot to the ankle that went uncalled.
After the match, Ronaldo expressed his disappointment in the referee (via AS):
"It's a shame. I do not understand. There is talk of fair play, to protect the good players, and I've never had that."
And just to prove that the latest edition of Future News wasn't the over-the-top joke I intended it to be, Ronaldo said the following when asked why the Croatian fans at the Stadion Maksimir jeered and whistled at him throughout the match:
"It is because I am handsome, rich and a great player, because I am envied. I have no other explanation."
So it seems that gash on the ankle didn't puncture his ego.
