Fulham's fantastical Europa League run came to an end just short of silverware with the narrowest of losses in extra time to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. The club's celebrity fans (i.e. most important fans) who made the trip to Hamburg to cheer the team in their first ever European cup final were obviously very disappointed with the result.
Lily Allen had a cry when Diego Forlan scored his second goal in the 116th minute to put Atletico up 2-1, while Hugh Grant looked like he was passing a kidney stone. Both have followed Fulham throughout their European journey and both are legit fans of the club. Grant worked as an assistant groundsman for the club during one school break before he started making an endless stream of romantic comedies and Allen speaks of the good old days in the '90s, when "people went a lot more mental." So it's safe to say those emotions in the stands at Hamburg were all very real for them.
Especially for Hugh, whose face may now be permanently stuck that way.
