With his pal Prince William in town, Davey Becks showed off a bit of his old set piece magic by scoring the winner in L.A.'s match against Chicago on Saturday night with a corner kick. Eight minutes after Landon Donovan put L.A. up 1-0 in the second half and four minutes after Cristian Nazarith equalized, Beckham curled in his corner kick and it somehow bounced through everyone's legs to find the back of the net. Lucky? Certainly. But it was also well taken.
According to Beckham, the only other time he's done that was while on loan at Preston North End 16 years ago, before he became a star with Manchester United.
That was Becks' second goal of the season and it gave L.A. a 2-1 win to extend their lead atop the Western Conference. If this is what Beckham does when Will Windsor is around, then MLS might want to make the Duke their next designated player. (That's a joke. I think.)
