Canada defeats China in the Gold Medal Match in Women's Curling

The third time was the charm for the Canadian women. China had defeat them twice in earlier draws, but edging past Japan, Canada was set to face and then finally defeat China 7 to 4 in the championship match of the 2008 Ford World Curling Championships in Vernon, Canada. This is the second year in a row for Canada.

Chevy U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix

The second stop of the Chevy U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix and first stop of the VISA U.S. Snowboardcross National Championship Series in Tamarack, ID. Maze takes downhill

Tina Maze took advantage of changing weather conditions to become the first Slovenian and the highest bib number to win a women's World Cup downhill on Saturday. Starting 47th out of 51 starters, the giant slalom specialist, who had never previously made the top 10 in a World Cup downhill, clocked the fastest time of one minute, 44.38 seconds more than an hour after the favorites had completed the course. Persistence paid off for Canadian Emily Brydon, as she won her first World Cup victory in a super-G on Sunday. After collecting six podium places in seven World Cup seasons, the 1.81-meter tall Brydon made the best of her speed skills on the lower part of the piste to win in one minute, 17.39 seconds. Vonn closer to overall title with win
