Top 5 Snowboarding Sponsorships to Apply for in 2012
Are you an amateur snowboarder with dreams of securing sponsorships and eventually going pro? If so, you may want to consider applying for at least one sponsorship every month.
Here are a few companies that you may want to consider:
1. Epic Snowboards
Epic Snowboards is located in Temecula, Calif., and offers multi-level sponsorships to snowboarders. In my opinion, companies that have multi-level sponsorships are superlative when it comes to developing valuable, long-term connections within the industry. If you are interested in applying, you will need to fill in an online application prior to Nov. 28, 2012. Once the company reps receive your application, they will determine what level of sponsorship you are eligible for.
2. Porters Sports
Porters Sports is located in Truckee, Calif., and it also accepts sponsorship requests from amateur snowboarders. The company sells a variety of winter sports gear, apparel, footwear and accessories. Your sponsorship request must include a sponsor me DVD, a maximum of three digital stills and a one-page resume. Once you have your sponsorship packet assembled, you will need to snail mail it to the company; just make sure that you keep copies of everything that you send. If the company reps like what they see, they will contact you and arrange for an in-person evaluation. Full details about the sponsorship application process and contact information is available on the company's website.
3. K2 Snowboards
K2 Snowboards is based in Seattle, Wash., and will also accept sponsorship requests from amateur snowboarders. In order to apply, you will need to send them a dynamite sponsor me video that is a minute or less in duration via snail mail. Additional details on how to apply are available online.
4. Recon Instruments
Recon Instruments manufactures Alpine GPS goggles and is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. It also entertains online sponsorship requests from snowboarders through its HookIt webpage. Sponsorship benefits vary. If you are interested in applying, you will need to get your request in to the company's reps prior to Oct. 17, 2012.
Swany is a winter sports glove manufacturer based in Johnstown, N.Y. It is also actively seeking snowboarders to sponsor. Sponsorship benefits may include cash, as well as products. There is no age requirement when it comes to submitting a request. You must apply online through the company's HookIt webpage. Be prepared to submit photos and videos of you snowboarding as well. Applications should reach the company no later than April 27, 2012.
