Here they are:

1. High Point State Park

High Point State Park is one of my most favorite for its scenic views. It has over 50 trails and is located on Route 23 in Sussex. The park is open daily and trail passes range in price from $7 to $18 per person. Rentals are available on site for an additional fee.

2. Jenny Jump State Forest

Jenny Jump State Forest is located on State Park Road in Hope and has 11 miles of trails. It is open daily and admission is free, and I recommend the Summit Trail.

3. Norvin Green State Forest

Over 10 miles of trails through the pine paddies are what await you at Norvin Green State Forest in Ringwood. I'd recommend the trails near the Weis Ecology Center.

4. Stokes State Forest

Stokes State Forest is located off Route 206 in Branchville and has some of the prettiest cross country ski trails around. You'll love the views from Sunrise Mountain. It is open daily and admission is gratis.

5. Ramapo Mountain State Forest

Open daily, the Ramapo Mountain State Forest on Skyline Drive in Ringwood features over 20 miles of trails. I'd recommend the one that runs along the 120-acre lake. Admission is free.

6. Wawayanda State Park

Also open daily with no admission charge is Wawayanda State Park. It is located on Warwick Turnpike in Hewitt and features over 60 miles of trail. I'd suggest you try the trails near the Wawayanda Swamp.

7. Kittatinny Valley State Park

Kittatinny Valley State Park is located off Route 206 North in Andover. It is open daily, admission is complementary and there are 40 plus miles of trails to choose from. Bring your camera to shoot the abundant wildlife.

8. Stephens State Park

Stephens State Park is located on Willow Grove Street in Hackettstown. Admission is gratis and it is open daily from sunrise until sunset. There are six miles of trails, including one that encircles the park.

9. Allamuchy Mountain State Park

Allumuchy Mountain State Park is also located on Willow Grove in Hackettstown. It is open daily, admission is gratis and there are over 20 miles of trails. My favorite is the Sussex Branch Trail that leads to Cranberry Lake.
