Landis: Tour de France “not possible”

  • Print

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP)—American cyclist Floyd Landis has told a New Zealand newspaper it is unlikely he will compete again in the Tour de France.

The 34-year-old Landis, in New Zealand to ride the six-day, nine-stage Tour of Southland, told the Herald on Sunday newspaper that politics in cycling would likely prevent him contesting the world’s premier cycling road race.

Landis won the 2006 Tour de France, but was disqualified and banned for two years when doping tests revealed abnormally elevated testosterone levels. He returned at the Tour of California in February.

“I don’t think it’s a possibility next year, or ever, for that matter,” Landis said of the Tour de France.

Most of Lance's drug are marketed by USA firms---however NONE of his dope is made in the USA.

    Not even his cow blood.

It is POSITIVELY wonderful that doper Floyd Landis was BANNED foir two years and exposed as a Lance Pharmstrong alum and drug cheat.

It was GREAT that Frankie Andreu confessed under oath and in the NY Times to EPO injections art the 1999 Tour whilst riding for Pharmstrong, THUS discrediting that victory as a doped USPO win.

It is terrific that David Walsh (Rupert Murdock) London Times) wrote two books outlining Lance's drug cheating and how Floyd Landis was DQed from the TDF in 2006.

It was POSITIVE that Lance's long-time STEROID dealer, Michele Ferraari was CONVICTED of illegal pharmacy in October 2004.

It was great news that Laurent Fignon (French Champion and doouble TDF) CONFESSED his steroid and stimulant injections NOW, at age 47, before he dies of his Pancreatic Cancer.

Super positive news in the charade of TV steroid, hGH, hCG, EPO sports which most morons lust after.

    Thanks for asking.

    Cheese Curtain,

Way to go. People get to appreciate cycling for many reasons. I don't think any of the reasons would be considered wrong.
Just because we support or cheer for a certain rider, doesn't mean that we don't appreciate the skills of other riders from different teams, different cultures, or different eras.

People who don't appreciate the diversity of the cultures and groups that make up America, don't have a clue and are wearing blinders. He or they can't see what's all around them. These are the people who are going to crash on a bike.

The USA is as EVIL as there ever was. Nike =LeBron, Kobe, Tiger, Lance, Serena, A-Roid

Roman Empire on steroids, stimulants, fixed games and opium.

TEAM USA has CONTROL of all major markets (no competition allowed)

BLOOD for opium (heroin) Our Afghan policy, 250,000 contract workers beyond the Marines to supply heroin to Merck, Pfizer, J&J, Bristol Meyers, Glaxo SmithKline, Medicare et al.

BLOOD for OIL (so called Energy) enriching Exxon/Mobike, Chevron, Haliburton and BP

The WORLD TRADE CENTRE cover up, THREE skyscraper buildings collapsed, not just two. All were demolished professionally as NO jet plane can collapse a steel building. IMPOSSIBLE.

Besides, no plane hit WTC building #7, and it fell too. 47 floors!

    Disney-ESPN
    TW-TNT
    GE-NBC
    Viacom-CBS
    Newscorp-Fox

are all corrupt, all work for advertisers, TV sports are all steroids, themes and fixed outcomes.

There might be another reason why Floyd says it is unlikely that he will ever ride in another Tour de France.

Consider the toll that the whole process of fighting the doping charges, fighting the ASO, and finally losing has cost Floyd.

The emotional, mental, and physical stress plus I think his marriage broke up, plus there was a suicide in the family because of the scandal.

To ride again in the Tour de France would bring back all the memories and heartbreak. I would not consider him at fault if he never wanted to ride a Tour again.

If he gets back on an Elite Pro Team, there are plenty other races that he can compete in. One day classics, two main tours Giro,Vuelta, other tours Tour de Suisse, Lombary, etc.. There is still plenty of racing to be done overseas and in America if he can get back in form.

    Peter #27,
I doubt that you personally have been riding a bike for 100 years, so what are you talking about? Great to preach about appreciating other cultures, although you seem to be narrow-minded and profoundly anti-American. Just because someone says something that you construe to be pro-American doesn't mean they are dismissive of other cultures just because you are dismissive of all things American.

The whole Lance-Trance thing is a tired argument. If someone takes up the great sport of cycling because they watched Lance Armstrong race and they were inspired, that's great! Same as if they were inspired by Indurain or LeMonde or anyone else you care to name. When you win seven straight TdF's I will join the Peter-Trance cult. Until then.......

    The truth about Peter Joachim.

Peter Joachim is a writer for L'Equipe. He gets orders from ASO and AFLD to go on every single blog for cycling in the world to spread lies and inuendo about Lance Armstrong and other NON-FRENCH Cyclists and their unfounded, unproven doping activities. Meanwhile he has been instructed not to attack the biggest Doper in the Tour History--Richard Virenque who is a frenchman and got caught redhanded.

Peter Joachim is the Joseph Goebbels of the Yahoo message boards.
