Do you love sports? Do you love engineering? Yahoo! Sports is looking for an energetic, passionate Software Engineer to help bring us to the next level in the internet sports space. As a member of the Yahoo! Sports team, you will brainstorm, design, create, maintain, and enhance new and existing products consumed by millions of sports fans around the world. Our ideal candidate has 0-3 years experience in an internet-related field, a strong background in Perl, C/C++, UNIX, a BS/MS in Computer Science and an appetite for all things sports. Knowledge of PHP, MySQL, and Apache are all pluses.

Yahoo! Inc. is looking for a Visual Design to join the User Experience & Design team within Sports. As a Visual Designer you will work closely with interaction designers, usability researchers, producers, web developers, and engineers to develop the visual presentation for Yahoo! Sports.

• Participate in concept development and design ideation
• Create visual designs that address business, brand, market, and user requirements, including the design and production of screen layouts, color palettes, typography, user interface elements
• Produce design specifications, storyboards, scenarios, design prototypes
• Successfully communicate conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of user centered design process
• Collaborate with producers and interaction designers to refine the user experience
• Work with web developers and engineers to deliver the final product
• Assist in project coordination across functional teams

• Candidates must have a solid understanding of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, as well as ability to grasp multiple product requirements
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design or other visual arts
• Ideally 3-5 years experience as a key member of a UI team participating in the complete product development lifecycle of several successfully launched web and/or software applications
• Must demonstrate strong design skills including screen layouts, information design, and typography, and must have a great eye for detail
• Experience working on Sports-focused products and strong sports knowledge required.
• Able to develop new approaches to complex design problems and can convey ideas into tangible form
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups
• Works well under pressure and able to meet aggressive deadlines
• Ability to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
• Must have solid grasp of graphic and web design principles and good understanding of current web technologies (html, dhtml). Working knowledge of Flash desired.
