Cristie Kerr Golf Tips

LPGA golfer Cristie Kerr was featured on The Apprentice.

As one of the tour’s leading putters, Cristie’s set-up and stroke are great ones to try and copy. She again is very detailed in her practice. In her set-up she likes to feel comfortable and does so with her eyes positioned slightly inside the line of the putt. This gives her enough room to swing her arms. She tries to feel like her weight is grounded in her feet with her shoulders fairly level.

She then makes a stroke that is dominated by her bigger muscles with very minimal hand action. Each day, she will lay down clubs for a few minutes to check the path of her clubhead. Her stroke has a slight arc to it with the club head traveling slightly to the inside going back and through. Straight back and straight through is only a good thought on the shortest of putts. When you practice try laying down a couple of clubs to see how you do.

Remember that putting is an art form. Great putters have their own styles and tend to be great green readers. When Cristie is playing in tournaments, she is thinking about her speed and where she wants to roll the ball as these are the most important components.
