Cristie Kerr Golf Tips

LPGA golfer Cristie Kerr was featured on The Apprentice.

Some teachers will say that position teaching is not a good idea. However, even those teachers teach positions. Address and finish would be two great examples. Cristie works really hard on positions to fight some of her normal tendencies. Her set-up is key, as most shots are missed before the club moves away. You can see the white board in this picture. She is using this to continually check her alignment.

You will almost never see her hit a practice ball without an alignment aid. The next two positions are areas of her swing where she may sometimes be off. In her first move off of the ball she feels things move away together in a one piece fashion with the club slightly to the outside of her hands. This is her position 1.

From here she feels a good coil with her shoulders with her left arm stretched across her chest. This is her position 2.

She will sometimes exaggerate these feels to make her coil feel powerful. Position teaching is a tremendous asset. If you know where the club should be and can practice properly in that area, you will see improvement.
