Cristie Kerr Golf Tips

LPGA golfer Cristie Kerr was featured on The Apprentice.

Your grip is your only connection to the golf club, so how you place your hands on the club will directly affect how the clubface is positioned at impact. All grips are slightly different as well as hand size; therefore, each individual has to find the hand position that best suits their swing. Cristie pays close attention to how she organizes her hands on the club. She plays her best when the club feels comfortable in her hands. She starts by placing the grip in the index finger of her left hand and then wraps her other fingers and top of hand onto the club. You will notice her left thumb is just to the right of center as you look at the picture.

If done properly, the crease formed by her thumb and index finger will point to the right side of her head. She then adds her right hand, holding the club in her fingers and creating another crease that will match the one formed by her left hand. In this position, her hands feel unified on the club helping her to create proper wrist action in the swing.

Going over your grip from time to time is a great idea because slight changes in had position can greatly influence ball flight.
