Lauderdale Lakes (Fla.) Boyd Anderson linebacker Kent Turene was committed to Southern Cal for a majority of the past six months, but opened things up recently. Entering Wednesday, when he was scheduled to make a Signing Day decision, the three-star linebacker wanted to keep everyone guessing until the final seconds. That is part of the reason he walked into his ceremony wearing a Texas Tech hat.
"It was just about keeping people on their toes," Turene said. "It wasn't anything against that school or anyone there."
After sitting down at the table, the 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker didn't sign with the Red Raiders, but instead opted to take his talents to the Peach State, where he will play for the University of Georgia. He said his decision to go to Georgia largely came down to the impact of the official visit he took there two weeks ago.
"When I went there it was a great place," Turene said. "I had a great time on my visit. Also the relationship with the coaches and the players was great. I got to spend time with the players and see the whole thing there, what it is like to be there. I just felt at home."
