Report: Broncos waive DL Jonathan Harris

The Denver Broncos have placed defensive lineman Jonathan Harris on the waived/non-football injury list, according to The Denver Post‘s Ryan O’Halloran. After making that move, Denver has two open spots on the roster.

Harris (6-5, 290 pounds) entered the league as a college free agent out of Lindenwood with the Chicago Bears following the 2019 NFL draft. After starting the season on Chicago’s practice squad, Harris was promoted to the Bears’ active roster on Sept. 29.

Harris was cut by Chicago on Oct. 22 and claimed off waivers by the Broncos. He dressed for five games in Denver, totaling seven tackles. Harris turned 24 years old on Aug. 4.

After parting ways with Harris, the Broncos have seven defensive linemen remaining on the roster: Jurrell Casey, Mike Purcell, Shelby Harris, Dre’Mont Jones, DeMarcus Walker, McTelvin Agim and Christian Covington.

If Denver only carries six defensive linemen on the active roster, Covington might be in danger of getting cut as well.
