Backtalk wins Bashford Manor at Churchill Downs (AP)

Backtalk beat Flatter Than Me by a length Friday in the $110,500 Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs. Backtalk, ridden by Miguel Mena, ran six furlongs in 1:11.08 and paid $3.60, $2.60 and $2.20. Flatter Than Me returned $3.60 and $3.20, and Brassy Boy paid $4 to show. Backtalk gave trainer Tom Amoss his second Bashford Manor victory.

Go Go Shoot wins Monmouth feature (AP)

Go Go Shoot held off Timely Advice by a half-length Friday in the in the $75,000 Mr. Prospector Stakes at Monmouth Park. Trained by Bruce Levine and ridden by Eddie Castro, the 4-year-old gelding covered six furlongs on the fast main track in 1:08 3-5 and paid $4.60, $2.60 and $2.40. Timely Advice returned $3 and $2.20, and Unwritten paid $3 to show.

Jazzy wins Belmont's Caress Stakes (AP)

Jazzy, a 24-1 long shot, beat J Z Warrior by a half-length Friday in the $68,200 Caress Stakes for fillies and mares on the turf at Belmont Park. The 7-year-old Jazzy, trained by Mark Hennig, snapped a 10-race losing streak dating to her victory in Belmont's Gallant Bloom Handicap on Sept. 22, 2007.

A trainer has been fined and banned three months from entering horses after one of Queen Elizabeth II's racehorses failed a doping test. Nicky Henderson learned of his punishment from the British Horseracing Authority on Friday. It says a prohibited substance was found after Moonlit Path's debut in February when she finished sixth.

Claiborne Farm's Blame found running room at the eighth pole for a 1 -length win in Thursday's featured $50,397 Moon Over Prospect Purse for 3-year-olds at Churchill Downs. Blame, a 3-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Arch ridden by Jamie Theriot, covered the mile on a fast main track in 1:36.41 to beat out Blackberry Road.

I'll Show Them rallied from third in the final furlong to win Thursday's $50,000 feature by one length at Hollywood Park. Ridden by Martin Garcia, I'll Show Them ran one mile on the turf in 1:34.01 and paid $15.40, $7.40 and $6.20. Gretsky returned $9.80 and $7.60, while Backbackbackgone paid $4.80 to show.

Judge closes Jockeys' Guild bankruptcy case (AP)

A federal bankruptcy judge has closed the case of the Jockeys' Guild, ending the long-running court supervision of the riders' trade association. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge David Stosberg signed the order this week to end the two-year process. The guild had previously settled a legal fight with its former director and came up with a plan to pay debts related to its health insurance plan.

Jockey Calvin Borel off Mine That Bird again (AP)

Calvin Borel is out as the rider of Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird. The move comes after trainer Chip Woolley, Borel and the jockey's agent could not agree on a long-term commitment. Borel possibly could have been aboard the gelding for his next scheduled start at the $750,000 West Virginia Derby on Aug.

De Francis Dash returns to Laurel in October (AP)

The Grade I De Francis Dash will return to Laurel Park in October after a one-year hiatus. Introduced in 1990, the six-furlong sprint is one of only three Grade I races held in Maryland, along with the Preakness Stakes and the Pimlico Special. The $300,000 De Francis Dash was not held last year because of a purse account shortfall.
