FILE - In this May 2, 1936 file photo, Ira "Babe" Hanford, the young apprentice jockey, sits in the saddle aboard Bold Venture as they receive the victor's wreath after winning the Kentucky Derby horse race in Louisville, Ky. Hanford, who rode Bold Venture to a stunning victory in the 1936 Kentucky Derby, has died. He was 91. Virginia Hanford says her husband of 67 years passed away last Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, in Ocala following a lengthy illness.
