Team Zenyatta to be honored with award

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP)—Undefeated Zenyatta and her owners, trainer and jockey will be honored with the Big Sport of Turfdom award from the Turf Publicists of America.

Owners Jerry and Ann Moss, trainer John Shirreffs and his wife, Dottie, and Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith will receive the 44th annual award on Dec. 8 at the Race Track Industry Program Symposium on Racing & Gaming in Tucson, Ariz.

The award is given to someone who enhances coverage of thoroughbred racing through cooperation with the media and the sport’s racing publicists.

Turf Publicists president John Engelhardt said Zenyatta’s connections have exuded class and made themselves readily available to the media throughout her undefeated career.

Zenyatta capped her 14-0 career with a victory over the boys in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 7.

Zenyatta is truly a remarkable thoroughbred. I've been following racing since I was a teenager, and I go back to seeing Secretariat win the Triple Crown in 1973 and also seeing the great Ruffian race as well. So I've seen a lot of great horses in my lifetime. But Zenyatta is right up there with the best of the best. She just has the size, speed, and God given talent to run down whatever horse or horses that lye in her path. To be such a deep closer and still be undefeated is almost unheard of. That also speak's volumes about Mike Smith's ability to time her in races just right. I guess we'll never know for sure, but after watching her historical performance in the Classic, I have a hunch she could've been beating the best male competition long ago. Zenyatta should absolutely be HOY. Long live the Queen.

Zenyatta is tops! What an incredible horse. I have been around racing in Southern California for decades and I have never witnessed a horse like Zenyatta, John Henry with the Shoe in the irons is the closest. Zenyatta's victory in the Breeder's Cup Classic was, hands down, the greatest race I have ever witnessed at Santa Anita Park! She deserves the very best because she is simply the best. Thanks

zenyatta is an increadible animal. but im more intrested on who they will pick for her breeding... and then for her off spring. why do you ask?
because Big B or betterknown as barbro his full brother is going to be racing next year and everyone will expect him to win because of his pedigree and im not so sure he will. so as i said, she made her mark on racing now lets see if she can produce champion off spring. Im hopeing she will.

One thing people are missing is that zenyatta has more closing speed at the end of routes than any horse in history ,{ on the modern surfaces.]
she dosen't pick up on tired she.mows down the horses that are running at
their best. if you add the lengths she spots every horse in the race. its
like beating the leader by 12 lengths in every race.
    40 mph at the end,incredible

Really only one comment needed here. She deserves all the attention and accolades that she's receiving and then some, as her pure ability as one of the all time great's speak's for itself.
