Pitt TE Chris Clark not with team for personal reasons
Pitt tight end Chris Clark is not practicing with the football team this spring.
Panthers coach Pat Narduzzi said Tuesday that Clark isn’t a member of the team right now because of personal reasons. Clark was Pitt’s primary tight end throughout the 2017 season.
“Chris has stepped away right now, really for personal reasons,” Narduzzi said. “Been talking with his mom and dad, just personally there’s some stuff he’s trying to deal with that … He’s away from the program and our best wishes are for Chris and his family to make it through these tough times.”
Narduzzi said Clark could return to the team at some point but said that discussion hadn’t even been broached.
“I never — that’s something we haven’t discussed. His well-being is the most important thing.”
Clark came to Pitt after he originally committed to UCLA. He played a game for the Bruins as a freshman in 2015 before leaving the team after the first week of the season. His commitment was seen as a big get for the Bruins because he was the No. 1 tight end in the class of 2015 according to Rivals.
2017 was his first season with Pitt. He had 16 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown.
