Kirsten: Is the UN going to go back and hit up every major Country that enslaved people during that same time in History, or if the United States the only one that are to pay. Long before the US was Country, the Spanish and Portuguese, brought in Africans to work the Plantations in the Caribbean and all the small islands and lands along the Western Atlantic costal areas. The British also used slaves and committed horrible atrocities against the peoples of India and Egypt. If the UN was a fair Body, they would look at all. Right now, the past cannot be changed. But we have the opportunity to help those that are presently being enslaves and oppressed in Countries around the Globe. But they think it would be in everyone's interest to pay out monies to people who in no way suffered at the hands of Slavers or owners. Records for Black Folks during that time period are the same as non-existent. Why those of us who never had anything to do with slavery. The UN is more concerned with this, than shutting down the slave business that is common place today in Africa, not to mention the horrors of Genocide. Perhaps they should worry with those that are still living under such conditions.
