more Jaclyn Spencer Waterloo West Freshman Softball The future is bright for Spencer. She has already demonstrated plenty of power at the plate and inside the pitcher’s circle. This past week, Spencer tallied three home runs during a win over Cedar Rapids Kennedy, and later struck out 13 batters in a 12-inning win over Cedar Falls. The Wahawk freshman is batting .667 with five homers and 17 RBIs. “She provides great leadership for the team, especially as a ninth grader stepping up on the mound and at the plate,” West coach Sarah Saladino said. “She’s very determined in what she does and she has a great attitude when she comes to practice and games. She’s always prepared.” Spencer has also lettered in basketball and track.
