Patriots owner Jonathan Kraft and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones got into a war of words during an owners meeting, according to CBS Sports. The point of disagreement? GIFs. That’s right: GIFs. The two got in an argument over the NFL’s new social media policy, which has become hugely prohibitive for NFL teams. They can no longer post highlights from their games during the game action. Here’s what CBS’ Jason La Canfora wrote about the spat: “Jones made an impassioned defense of the member clubs, claiming the highlights were team-generated content and clubs should be able to do what they want with them on social media. … Jones also expressed his belief that if the league can post the videos then the
Tony Ferguson continues to rack up wins in the UFC, and he keeps getting passed over for title shots. Tony Ferguson may be the most underrated, underappreciated fighter in the UFC. Six of his last eight wins have come by finish, and he’s bested a series of elite opponents, including Edson Barboza and Josh Thomson.
Thomas Hastings, who has Duchenne Muscular dystrophy and congenital scoliosis, knew exactly what he wanted when the wish granters from Make-A-Wish said he could have his biggest dream granted. Thomas, 10, of Windsor, Conn., wanted a baseball field built in his backyard so he could play ball with his friends. Most of Kentucky’s 23 NBA players came through Lexington during John Calipari’s tenure. (AP) For the second straight year, Kentucky coach John Calipari has a recruiting spiel at his disposal that no other coach can match. He can tell prospects that his
Carlos Sainz Jr. produced one of the stand-out displays in Sunday’s United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas to finish sixth, matching his best result of the 2016 Formula 1 season so far. Sainz qualified 10th for Toro Rosso on Saturday at the Circuit of The Americas, but rose up to P8 in the early stages after Nico Hulkenberg and Valtteri Bottas dropped back due to contact. Sainz managed to jump Felipe Massa at the second round of pit stops to run seventh before Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen retired, handing the Spaniard fifth. After seeing off pressure from Massa, Sainz went wheel-to-wheel with his childhood racing hero, Fernando Alonso, in the final two laps, but was unable to keep the

Sixteen teams remain in the battle to clinch the Premier League’s first European place of next season’s tournament, and we have some tremendous battles on tap for Tuesday and Wednesday in the EFL Cup (formerly the League Cup). Today we focus on the 24 hours ahead of us, focusing on Tuesday’s five matches and allowing the Manchester Derby, West Ham-Chelsea, and Southampton-Sunderland to percolate a bit. That’s not to say we don’t have a pair of giants dueling on Tuesday. Liverpool is three wins away from a return to the final, where the Reds fell in penalties last season. Standing in their way is Tottenham Hotspur, a deep squad which won’t have to worry much about a quick turnaround from Saturday.
TALLADEGA, Ala. — Car owner Joe Gibbs says it gets easier for his team now. Really. All four Joe Gibbs Racing cars advanced to the Round of 8 Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway. Never has an organization held half the remaining eight spots in the Chase since the elimination-style format debuted in 2014. “I think from here on out, it’s pretty easy,’’ Gibbs said of managing four teams as they race for a title. “Everybody is geared up and is going for a win. That’s the game plan.’’ In others words, it should be just like what it has been all season. “We compete hard,’’ Edwards said of racing teammates in the upcoming round. “We work hard beforehand to help each other prepare. We battle hard on the
“This rule will help us,” Minnesota head coach Tracy Claeys said. The way the current recruiting cycle works, the majority of official campus visits occur in December, January and early February of a player’s senior year. Syracuse coach Dino Babers, for instance, estimates three-quarters of his program’s official visits come in January.
John Daly's propensity for drinking beer and smoking cigarettes is as well known as his ability to hit the ball 300-plus yards off the tee. Daly is the subject of the upcoming ESPN 30 for 30 documentary "Hit it Hard," which will give an in depth profile of his exploits on and off the course. In a clip from the film, Daly was asked about drinking during a tournament, which he denies ever doing ... except for one time at the L.A. Open. "I never had any alcohol on the golf course that I remember, except for one time, and that was the L.A. Open," says Daly. "It was so slow and I played the back nine first. I think I'm 2 or 3 over. I went in the locker room and downed like five beers, and I think
Your Twitter feed may have been full of pictures of Sidney Crosby skating Monday morning. The Pittsburgh Penguins captain was not wearing a non-contact jersey as he moves closer to a return to the lineup after experiencing another concussion. Working on a line with Scott Wilson and Patric Hornqvist – which brought about the reunion of the famed HBK line – as well as the No. 1 power play unit with Hornqvist, Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel and Justin Schultz, Crosby participated in a full practice with his teammates.
No surprise here: the Cubs have just named Jon Lester their Game 1 World Series starter. Lester has allowed two earned runs in 21 innings over three starts this postseason and was the co-MVP in the NLCS. Lester will face off against Indians ace Corey Kluber. On the season Lester went 19-5 with a 2.44 ERA and notched 197 Ks against 52 walks in 202.2 innings.
Notice that of the players currently on the roster, only a small handful are guaranteed to be with the team in the 2017–18 season. Durant is widely expected to decline his player option for next season to become an unrestricted free agent, and sign a new max deal that will allow him to earn more money due to the expected rise of the salary cap again next summer. Durant has no desire to go anywhere else; he did not sign with Golden State for this to be a one-year trial. So here’s where it gets tricky for the Warriors: this season will be Durant’s 10th in the league, meaning he’s eligible for the “max max” deal in free agency. The projected maximum salaries for the 2017–18 season, based on the
Jurgen Klopp isn’t having any of your title talk. After Liverpool beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 on Saturday at Anfield and Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United all dropped points this weekend, plenty of people are talking up Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season. With nine games of the season gone, Liverpool sit joint-top with Arsenal and Man City on 20 points with Chelsea and Tottenham just behind them on 19 points. It is tight at the top but whatever people are saying, Klop isn’t bothered. “I don’t care. It is normal in football that when you are in a good position people start talking a little more positive. I don’t recognize so much what
Team doctors are telling the Mets that Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz and Matt Harvey should all be 100 percent healthy at the start of next season, ESPN's Buster Olney reported this past weekend. According to Olney, the Mets believe Harvey will be the biggest question mark as he returns from July surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS). However, Harvey's agent, Scott Boras, recently said his client will be fully healthy by spring training. "You kind of rely on the doctors here, and the doctor was extremely positive about the results of what he found when he did the operation, and the relief that he gave Matt," Boras told MLB.com. "This is not like a Tommy John, where you have a ligament issue.
Claressa Shields celebrates after winning her second Olympic gold medal. There will be no third gold medal for Claressa Shields. Jim Harbaugh has been known for using a bit of hyperbole from time to time but it sounds as though he was really, really, really upset at a call in the final few minutes of No. 2 Michigan’s 41-8 win over Illinois on Saturday. Wolverines quarterback John O’Korn had completed a third-and-nine pass to Drake Harris that officials had marked short of the first down by nearly two yards. Harbaugh quickly challenged the spot but Big Ten replay officials upheld the call to force a fourth down decision that was a little longer than it should have been according to the coach. “I’ve never seen a worse call in the game of football,” Harbaugh said at his Monday press conference. “My understanding of the rules
Brock Osweiler dropped the ball. Osweiler is shaping up as a huge free-agent mistake for the Houston Texans, and on Monday night he produced a blooper that will serve as a sad summation of his first Texans season. Osweiler’s faux pas came at the start of the fourth quarter.

The Flyers will be playing their second game in two nights, as they dropped a 3-1 decision in Montreal last night. Philadelphia had some good scoring opportunities, but they were held to one goal mainly because Canadiens goalie Carey Price put together a strong performance. “We definitely wanted to come in here and get two points and it’s disappointing with the loss,” Steve Mason said, per CSN Philly.
When he was starting at power forward next to Dwight Howard last season, Clint Capela looked like he could eventually supplant Howard as the Rockets’ starting center. It happened this offseason with Howard leaving for the Hawks. Houston apparently wanted it to happen even sooner. Tim MacMahon of ESPN: Houston Rockets management repeatedly pushed for Clint Capela to get more playing time at the expense of Dwight Howard last season, sources told ESPN, adding to the disharmony that played a prominent role in the team’s disappointing 2015-16 campaign. Former Rockets interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff resisted complying with the wishes of general manager Daryl Morey and owner Leslie Alexander regarding
