Check out the best shots of the day.
mikem: I love that Trump kept repeating the attack of "you have been in politics for 30+ years and yet we still have all of these problems."I should not be surprised that he does not understand the authority and or scope of positions like First Lady or Senator or even Secretary of State,I mean it is painfully obvious he does not understand the constitutionally provided powers for the job he is applying for,it would make sense he does not understand lower offices. A First Lady has zero political power and is almost entirely a figurehead position with the ability to start initiatives if they are able to get donations for a cause, but there is no authority that comes with the position to mandate anything. A senator is just one member of 100 in the lower house and as such can only sponsor bills and vote either yay or nay on any legislation that makes it to floor of the Senate. A Secretary of State is a foreign policy and diplomacy position in which all of the authority of the office is derived directly from the executive branch and the duties and scope of work are directed by the President. In all of her years in the political world the time between 2000 and 2009 that she was a Senator was the only time she had any self directed authority and even that was under control of her constituents and as I noted.A Senator is only one of 100 in the lower house and only 1 of 535 members of congress on a whole.
