  • Rosberg edges out Verstappen to lead final Hungary practice

Nico Rosberg gave Mercedes a clean sweep of practice sessions in Hungary by topping FP3 on Saturday morning, edging out Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by two-thousandths of a second. Rosberg led second practice on Friday afternoon, and spent the majority of the final session at the top of the timesheets as drivers enjoyed the final runs ahead of qualifying later today. A fastest lap of 1:20.261 on the super-soft tire gave Rosberg P1 at the checkered flag, but his advantage was far less comfortable than he would have liked. Red Bull arrived in Hungary expected to run Mercedes close, but failed to match the German marque for pace on Friday. However, Verstappen managed to turn up the wick and produce

  • Which NHL goal scorers were luckiest this season? (Trending Topics)

A shot from Alex Ovechkin from x location in a high-danger area has a greater chance of going in than one from Zac Rinaldo or even Lee Stempniak. With this in mind, we can reasonably extrapolate that guys like Patrick Kane, who led the league in points and finished second in goals only behind Ovechkin are generally going to appear to be more “lucky” than the average NHLer when their stats are viewed without context. What that basically means is that Kane had a shooting percentage of 16 percent in all situations last year, nearly doubling the NHL average of 8.5 percent.

  • Report: Michigan State and Penn State will play at the Palestra

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo has previously expressed a desire to coach a game at the legendary Palestra in Philadelphia and it appears he’ll get his chance in a Big Ten game this season. According to a report from Brendan F. Quinn of MLive, Penn State will use the Palestra as its home gym for the Jan. 7, 2017 Big Ten game against Michigan State. It is the only time the two teams are scheduled to play during Big Ten season and Penn’s home gym will offer a unique setting for the game. Since the capacity of the Palestra is 8,722, it should make for a fun atmosphere for both programs since this will be a game both fan bases will likely want to attend. The P.K. Subban for Shea Weber trade between the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators continues to make waves. On that same late-June day, however, the Edmonton Oilers shocked the hockey world by sending Taylor Hall, who four times in his young career has hit the 20-goal plateau, to New Jersey for right-shot defenseman Adam Larsson, who isn’t likely to be mistaken for a dynamic offensive blue liner. In trading Hall, the Oilers gave up a dynamic forward, although they certainly had a plethora of skilled forwards, and their need to make upgrades to their blue line, made it necessary to part with a player up front. Hall and Jordan Eberle — now his former Oilers teammate — broke into the league with Edmonton in the same year, back in 2010-11.
