Renaultsport R.S. 01 race car: First Look

Renault's latest racer marks the formation of new sports car championship named Renaultsport Trophy. Beyond the car's stunning good looks, it features the same twin turbo V-6 from the Nissan GT-R, only it's now mid-mounted. Boasting over 500 hp and weighing just 2,425 lbs., performance is expected to fall between a German DTM and a GT3-spec race car.

The carbon tub is built by Dallara; the transmission is a 7-speed sequential by Sadev; and the car will run a racer and their team a cool $486,000. But for the pro driver that wins the championship, they'll be rewarded a test with the factory NISMO outfit in Japan's Super GT, while the winning amateur will have a chance to compete in the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. So there's plenty at stake, for all involved.
