Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and the rest of the U.S. men's basketball team are eyeing Olympic gold.
winston_smith: Ah yes, the American version of the Soviet Union's Young Pioneers. Will duties include informing on ones family or neighbors? Seems like it might: "the Secreaterys plan would help combat the growing self-segregation in America, where people surround themselves with people who think, talk, look and read the same news as them." It's called 'freedom of association', Hillary. Suppose I don't WANT to be forced to read or listen to a different news outlet? Will your 'volunteers' show me the error of my ways? After all, it was Obama who told his supporters to "get in their faces" if a family member or friend didn't support him; you've vowed that your administration would be "Obamas third term". Can I expect one of your 'volunteers' to now "get in my face"? And how would they know I don't listen to the accepted news in the first place? If I wear the same type of clothes as my neighbors, will your 'volunteers' profile me as 'antisocial' because my sense of fashion differs from the larger society or do I get a pass? Lastly, you've made it clear you'd like to expand the 'volunteer' service to older folks, maybe even pay them a stipend. Perhaps even create a full time service corps. Who pays for all this? Either it's a volunteer service or it's not. If it expands from a 'voluntary' service to a paid, full-time service--and the goals are so noble--would it eventually become mandatory? This idea starts at ridiculous and ends with scary. Just let folks organize as they wish, Hillary. And please re-read the Constitution.
