Swimming superstar Ryan Lochte won the first U.S. gold medal of the London 2012 Olympics. How many more can he bring home?
Unfortunately it is unlikely to happen,as there is no political will or initiative to change the constitution to allow a minority PM based on "justice and equality, regardless of race, language or religion" repeatedly recited my all students in class or when the national flag is raised. PAP under the Lee Dynasty edict has to have a PM from the family tree and no one else is eligible. Many analysts had recommended for a nominated minority president instead of an election but was rejected outright by soothsayer,LHL who could predict the future that there will be through in 10,15 or 20 years' time,if an elected minority president is not put in place. There is no guarantee in the history of politics that an elected minority president can ever prevent troubles in the country. The best example in the current world of turmoil and uncertainty is Barack Obama, the elected minority president who has real power, though curtailed by the Republican lawmakers in the Congress and the Senate. In this island state, the PM holds the power, whereas the president has no "real" power, as hid speech and actions have to be scrutinised by the PM. Even, if the president wants to challenge the government on a certain issue or policy, the PM can veto or rejected by 2/3 of the parliament. The only person who dreams of "real power" as an elected minority president is the incumbent Home and Law Minister.
