Gene Bartow (Aug. 18, 1930-Jan. 3, 2012) --
Known as the man who took over for John Wooden at UCLA, Bartow coached for 34 years at the collegiate level. In his two seasons at UCLA, he went 52-9 and took the Bruins to the Final Four in 1976. It was his second trip to the Final Four; three years earlier he led Memphis to the title game. He died of stomach cancer at 81.
