The Rio Olympics kicked off in August with a joyous opening ceremony celebrating all things Brazil. Despite worldwide doom-mongering and nay-saying, the Games were a huge success - just don't mention the diving pool that turned green. Simone Biles' sensational floor routine (and adorable meeting with Zac Efron) won her millions of global fans, swimmer Michael Phelps' pre-race 'death stare' went viral and Rami Amis of the refugee team earned a standing ovation after setting a personal best in the men’s 100m freestyle. Team GB made history after coming second in the table. Cyclist Laura Trott became the GB's most successful female Olympian, brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee finished first and second in the men's triathlon and Mo Farah retained his 5,000 and 10,000m titles.
Manuel: To hell with what China thinks and how China feels.. Why must we, and everyone else for that matter, always bend over for China?? China tells nations not to speak with the Dalai Lama , and they listen, as if China is god (that's just one example). Here's a country that has gained quasi-superpower status mainly because they have a huge population and because they've been able to lie, cheat, and steal everything so they can catch up to the modern world over the past 20 some-years.. Stop looking at corporate profits, cut ties with them, pull the factories out of there, and we'll see how long China will be a big player on the world stage.
