Memorable moments in U.S. Open history

<b>Jack Nicklaus in 1972</b><br> Jack Nicklaus found himself on the 17th in windy conditions. Nicklaus used a 1-iron to drill the ball down the fairway and into the flagstick. The ball fell inches from the hole and made for an easy birdie. Nicklaus won that year with a total score of 290, one of the best scores in U.S. Open history.
